Dacia Logan Might Get An Automatic Gearbox

In the future, the Dacia Logan might have as an option an automatic gearbox, but this will be done only if the demand is enough to justify the extra investment.

Even as the decision hasn’t been taken yet, the fact that five pages of the Dacia Logan manual treats the use of an automatic gearbox with the car, including pictures, hints at the future.

And it might come sooner than the producer is willing to let us believe. According to the marketing director from Dacia, the car will continue to be sold for another 3-4 years and the manual also talks about possible improvements in this area.

There were no requests for automatic gearboxes in Romania, otherwise Dacia would offer them with the Dacia Logan, also said the Dacia manager.

While in Romania, France and Italy (countries where Dacia Logan sells best) the number of cars with automatic gearboxes are below 5% in general, in Germany, Holand and Great Britain they count for over 50% of the market.

So, while the demand exists somewhere, we can hope that the Dacia Logan will also get this option in the future.

Dacia has launched the Logan facelift today, with prices starting from 6400 euros, the same as the original version of the car, and with a 3 year or 100,000 km warranty. Some of the improvements include assisted emergency braking, the MCV rear view mirrors and the possibility to modify the height of the steering wheel.

The Dacia Logan facelift is available in four equipment versions and five engine versions, with the same engines as the current model. The most expensive version costs 10.700 euro and has the 1.5L and 85HP engine.

Orders for this new model can be made starting from July 2nd and the first cars could reach their customers next week, according to Dacia officials.

As for the design, the new Dacia Logan got changes in the optic blocks, the front and rear bumpers and the new Dacia logo, that was launched with the Sandero. Also, some changes were made in the back, where the trunk got a small facelift.

The new Dacia Logan has a length of 4.29 meters, 4 cm longer than the previous model.

The facelift will also be made for the other models of the series, including the MCV, the Van and Pick-Up.

Dacia Logan Facelift Launched on July 1st 2008

dacia-logan-facelift-1The new Dacia Logan will be launched by the Romanian constructor on July 1st, and this is the first major facelift of the car since it was launched, 4 years ago.

We’ve showed you the Dacia Logan spy photos in a previous post, and in just one week we’ll see it for real and present you with all the juicy details that we can find.

Right now, it’s not unreasonable to expect Dacia Sandero elements in the Logan facelift. In the previous photos that surfaced on the Internet, you can see bigger changes in the front of the car, and minor ones in the back.

Apparently, the MCV facelift will only be launched next year.

Dacia Logan Sport From Renault

In the beginning of 2009, the Renault Group wants to launch a sport version for the Dacia Logan Sedan, with a 133 HP engine, the same engine that is used for the Renault Twingo Sport. At the same time, they will decide if the Dacia Sandero will benefit from the same treatment in Romania, according to Sophie Albertus, product director for the Dacia Sandero worldwide. She also said that the Sandero is expected to get 4 stars at the EuroNCAP test, more than the Dacia Logan, which got only 3 stars.

Besides the 133HP engine, the Dacia Logan Sport will also receive some design and technical changes, which are normal for such a car. No details have been given on which changes will be made.

Looking forward on a Sport model for the Dacia Logan, though a 133HP engine isn’t exactly ground breaking. It’s used on a sport Twingo after all, a lighter car.

Spy Photos Of The Dacia Sandero SUV

French magazine AutoPlus have a spy photo of a future Dacia SUV, taken at a secret internal presentation at Renault. The model is apparently a Dacia Sandero SUV, not a Dacia Logan SUV as it was initially thought it will be.

The spied model has the Renault badge mounted in the front. The standard Dacia SUV will come in the standard version with 4×2 and will cost around 10.000 euros, while the 4×4 version with the system borrowed from Nissan will probably be around 15.000 euros.

This Dacia SUV will be launched in 2009 and will be built at the Pitesti factory, in Romania.
