The fourth model of the Dacia Logan lineup will probably be launched by the end of 2007, and it will be the Hatchback variant. Unfortunately it will be launched in Brazil first, and only after that in Europe. In Romania and Europe the new Dacia Logan Hatchback will be sold in 2008. The announcement was made yesterday at the Geneva Auto Show by Luc Alexandre Menard, president of the Council of Administration. The interior space of the Dacia Logan Hatchback will be a bit smaller then that of the sedan version, and the same goes for the total length, which might be a maximum of 4 meters. The first photos show just a Dacia Logan with the trunk reduced considerably, but it seems other modifications were also made for this model.
Renault wants to produce until 2009 6 models for the Dacia Logan lineup. While three of the models were already launched, the Dacia Logan sedan, the MCV and the Van, the fourth will be this Hatchback. The other two will probably be the Dacia Logan Pick-up and a 4×4 SUV version (keeping my fingers crossed :D). Last year 248.000 Dacia Logan were sold worldwide.
Hopefully Renault will be able to take advantage of its partnership with Nissan or that with Mahindra, both companies that have a nice tradition in building 4×4 models. A Dacia Logan SUV would be pretty cool for those that can’t afford an SUV right now.
