The Dacia Logan series just got a new model, the Van version, whose role is to take on the market segment that was occupied by the Pick-Up until last year. According to Constantin Stroe, vice-president of Dacia, around 40 Dacia Logan Van will be made daily at the Mioveni plant. The price of the Dacia Logan Van will be under 10,000 euro, according to Stroe. The cheapest Pick-Up had a cost of 7500 euro, but the quality wasn’t even near the Dacia Logan Van. According to the commercial director of Dacia, Jacques Daniel, the Dacia Logan will receive before the end of this year a new diesel version, with more horse power under the bonnet. Most probably it will have around 10-15 extra horse power. Right now, the 1.5L engine has 70HP and Euro4.
The launch of the Dacia Logan Van is part of the development strategy of the Renault Group for the 2007-2009 period. According to this three year plan, the Dacia Logan series will have six different models by 2009. The Dacia Logan sedan was launched in 2004, and the MCV in 2006, with the Van version being the third one out of the six that will show up in the end. Some of the models that Renault might decide for the Dacia Logan could be a hatchback or even a crossover.
