Dacia launched yesterday, at Barcelona, the production version of their first crossover, based on the Dacia Sandero hatchback. Stepway is basically just an European reinterpretation of the Sandero Stepway that is being sold in Brazil, under the Renault badge.
Dacia Sandero Stepway is basically just a taller version of the Sandero hatchback, and its audience is the young and dynamic audience. There is no 4×4 traction or any new engines, so it’s basically just a new design and a car that should do a little bit better on rough terrain thanks to the extra height.
The dimensions aren’t that bad, offering plenty of space. It has 4,024 meters in length, 1,997m in width and 1,582m in height. For 5 passengers, the interior space should be enough. The trunk can fit 320 liters in normal conditions and 1200 liters when the backseat is folded. The distance to the ground is now 175mm, 20mm more than the regular Sandero.
There are two engines available for Dacia Sandero Stepway:
- 1.6L petrol with 90HP
- 1.5 dCi diesel with 70HP
The start of the sales will be in September 2009. The official price hasn’t been announced yet.
