An ex-Chrysler dealer is selling an electric truck which is based on the popular Dacia Logan. Des Moines Motor which is in Des Moines, Iowa is offering a two-seat pickup truck under the brand name Electric Motor Cars. The truck is can carrying about 2000 lbs of cargo and can travel up to 260 miles in a single charge. The base model of this vehicle is priced at $33,950, whereas the wagon version is priced $1000 extra. The van model is priced $4000 higher than the base model. The truck used nickel sodium chloride batteries which charge in about 3 hours on 220 volts. If you get 110 volts then the battery may require about 8 hours. The wagon comes with a 36,000 miles warranty and the battery comes with a 100,000 miles warranty.
Renault is likely to shift the final assembly of Dacia Logan trucks to Florida from Romania. The truck which is to be launched in Florida is likely to a third the price of the electric model. Today there are only three distributors of Dacia Electric trucks in US; however the company is planning to increase the number of dealers. Des Moines Motor plans to distribute the trucks in at least 28 states. You can test drive the car, however the delivery of the truck will take at least three months.
