Renault received from Iran 100.000 orders for the Dacia Logan model, while the deliveries will not start until May 2007, according to the french press. The iranian clients have payed an advance of 5400 euro to ensure they’ll get a Dacia Logan when it starts to be sold.
The Dacia Logan will be sold in Iran under the name Renault Tondar-90, with an annual production of 300,000 cars. Renault started since March 3rd the production of the Dacia Logan sedan, which is assembled by two local manufacturers and has prices starting from 6750 euro. The iranian Dacia Logan is available in three equipment versions but only one engine, the 1.6L 16V petrol one.
The decision to sell the Dacia Logan under the Renault brand with an iranian name, tondar meaning thunder in iranian, was done so that a closer bond with the clients could be made.
