Renault to launch the Dacia Duster
Renault is planning to launch the much publicised Duster model next year. The company plans to tap the growing demand of emerging market with the launch of this compact 4×4 model.
The company plans to launch the Duster model in North America and Europe by spring 2010. According to company sources the car is created not only for European market but for world market. Dacia Duster will initially be manufactured in Romania at the company’s Pitesti site. From the year 2011 onwards the company plans to manufacture Duster at its Brazilian and Russian plant. The total capacity of all the 3 plants is expected to be 330,000 units per annum.
Duster will be available in both the diesel and petrol version depending on the market it is launched. In Europe the Duster will available in two models – 1.6-Liter petrol engine and 1.5-Liter diesel engine. The car is about 4.31 meters long and 1.82 meters wide and will be available in four and two wheel drive. Duster will be available in 3 driving modes – lock, which splits the torque in the ratio of 50:50; auto, which changes the torque according to requirement and 4×2 which locks the Dusters front wheel drive.
Dacia Duster Competition to participate in the Andros Trophy
If you one of those who are eagerly waiting for the Dacia Duster…you can have a look at the competition model showcased by the company at an ice racing series. Dacia Duster is the sixth model from Dacia and will participate in the Andros Trophy and will be driven by Alain Prost.
The company has ensured all important features are incorporated in Dacia Duster Competition. The engine is located in the mid-rear of the SUV and is a 3L V6 engine with 350 HP and 360 Nm at 7500 rpm. The chassis of Dacia Duster Competition is made of Tubular Steel. The company has used 16 inch magnesium tyres from Continental Racing.
This is the first time that Dacia is participating in a competition. The company wants to use this opportunity to showcase the reliability of its vehicle. The best part about participating in Andros Trophy is that vehicles which participate in the contest have to use a particular type of gearbox, tyres and engine which suits Dacia.
