Renault invested 1.7 billion euro so far in developing the Dacia Logan and all the models with the same name, like the sedan, the MCV or the Van. This price includes the funds used for extending the production capacity for the Dacia Logan, announced yesterday Renault. To modernize the Dacia Logan plant at Pitesti, Renault invested 489 million euro, while extending the plant in Moscow had a cost of 230 million euro. Besides that, another 116 million euro will go to the plant in Russia until 2009 to further expand the production. The Renault plans also include making the Dacia Logan in countries like Brazil, India and Iran.
Renault sold last year 250.000 Dacia Logan worldwide, both under the Dacia and Renault brands in 51 markets. From the moment of the launch around 400.000 Dacia Logan were sold until now. Automobile Dacia, that was taken over by Renault in 1999, sold last year 196.708 Dacia Logan’s, 19.6% more then in 2005. Out of these the romanian market bought around 96.000, the rest going to export. For 2007 Dacia expects to sell around 210.000 Logan’s.
